Ava DuVernay and Roxane Gay have hit out at Stephen King, who has said he would “never think about assorted variety in issues of workmanship”.

Stephen King has experienced harsh criticism in the wake of saying the issue of decent variety ought not be a factor for Oscar voters.
The creator, who selects in three classifications for the Academy Awards, said in a tweet that “lone quality” matters.

His remarks came after the Oscar selections declaration on Monday, which uncovered that only one non-white entertainer – British star Cynthia Erivo, for Harriet – was designated in the acting classifications.
